The Maybank Green is named in honor of David Maybank II, who was granted the lands upon which I’On is built in 1698 by King Charles II of England. Maybank later built a home on this site around 1710. This important archaeological site has been preserved as a neighborhood field. Slightly smaller than a regulation sized soccer field, the Green is ringed by trees and homes, providing an excellent venue for pickup games of touch football, throwing the ball with a dog, or just hanging out. It is also the venue for the Annual 'Halloween in the Hood' party!
