 Welcome to I'On!
A very special place filled with very special people. Where traditional architecture meets traditional hospitality, Neighborliness happens. Where a tidal marsh meets pristine lakes and ponds, birds, breezes, Binoculars happen. Where lowcountry cookin' meets gift shops, cold beer, and fine chocolates, Commerce happens. Where a church and school can raise beautiful towers of learning, Growth happens ...all gracefully.
Living in I'On is not only the name of our monthly newsletter, but it captures the essence of what it feels like to live here - with a heavy emphasis on Living. It's a way of life, not merely a place to call home. The community is designed to be like your grandmother's might have been - homes close together, with deep front porches, wide sidewalks, numerous parks, trails and quirky spaces where people might bump into each other, because that's what neighbors are supposed to do.
And thanks to many of the pioneers who were the first to call I'On home. They started a cluture that still permeates the neighborhood today. One that emphasizes the value of reaching out to others, whether they are new, ailing, celebrating a new life or the passing of a full, rich one. It's not for everyone - but for those of us who live here, it really is someplace special. We invite you to explore our community website. Like our monthly newsletter, the website was created and is managed by a group of neighbor-volunteers.
Better yet, come visit! No photograph or website in the world can begin to capture the essence of Living in I'On!
